The Head Coach of the Black Queens, Kim Lars Björkegren, has officially named a formidable 39-woman squad for the May camping session scheduled to take place at the Ghanaman Soccer Center of Excellence (GSCE) in Prampram.
This call-up comes as part of the team's continued preparation for upcoming international assignments, with the technical team seeking to maintain the squad’s high momentum after recent performances.
The squad, a rich blend of local and foreign-based talents, reflects the coach’s ambition to build a competitive and disciplined side. Players have been drawn from various domestic clubs including Police Ladies, Northern Ladies, Dreamz Ladies, and Army Ladies, among others. Notable names like Philicity Asuako, Deborah Afriyie, Grace Animah, and the in-form Sarah Nyarko have all earned places in the camp.
Foreign-based stars such as Princella Adubea (Abu Dhabi CC), Alice Kusi (Al Ahli SFC), Patience Kundok (Trabzonspor), and Elizabeth Oppong (Apollon Ladies, Cyprus) also make the cut, bringing international experience and diversity to the team.
Coach Björkegren’s selection signals a strong commitment to scouting talent across every region, with players like Ayisha Yakubu (Tamale Super Ladies), Sandra O. Ansah (Golbasi Belediye Spor), and Ibrahim Asana (Savannah Ladies) earning well-deserved recognition.
Speaking ahead of the camp, Coach Kim Lars Björkegren expressed optimism about the squad’s potential. “We are building not just a team, but a strong identity for the Black Queens. Each player here has shown promise, and this camping will be another opportunity for them to prove their quality and commitment.”
The camp is expected to focus on tactical drilling, physical conditioning, and team chemistry, all geared towards sharpening the squad for upcoming competitive fixtures.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) continues to show strong support for the women's national team, with the latest call-up reinforcing efforts to restore the Black Queens to the summit of African women's football.
