In a development that has caught many by surprise, Pastor Elvis Agyemang, founder of Grace Mountain Ministry and convenor of Alpha Hour, has been revealed as the private benefactor behind the protective pitch covers used at the Accra Sports Stadium during the busy December festivities.
The disclosure was made by Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, Director-General of the National Sports Authority, who confirmed that the man of God personally funded the acquisition of the turf covers in December 2025.
Protecting the Nation’s Stadium
December in Accra has become synonymous with large-scale concerts and crossover events that draw tens of thousands to the capital. In previous years, however, such gatherings left the pitch of the Accra Sports Stadium heavily damaged, raising concerns about maintenance costs and the stadium’s readiness for football matches.
According to Ankrah, the introduction of professional pitch covers last December changed that narrative.
The covers were used during major events including:
Medikal’s Beyond Kontrol concert on December 13
Stonebwoy’s Bhim Fest @10 on December 26
A headline concert by Black Sherif
The Alpha Hour Convocation hosted by Pastor Elvis Agyemang on December 30–31
With the protective covers in place, the turf was shielded from the weight of stage equipment, crowd movement, and heavy foot traffic — factors that previously led to costly repairs.
“He Saved the December Shows”
Yaw Ampofo Ankrah did not mince words in acknowledging the impact of the intervention. He credited Pastor Elvis Agyemang with effectively “saving” the December events, noting that without the covers, the stadium could have faced significant damage and possible temporary closure.
The revelation has sparked widespread admiration, particularly because Pastor Agyemang did not publicly announce or promote his involvement. Many only learned of his contribution after the NSA boss made it known.
Quiet Support, Big Impact
Pastor Elvis Agyemang, known for the globally followed Alpha Hour online prayer movement, has built a reputation around spiritual leadership and youth empowerment. His decision to fund infrastructure protection at the national stadium reflects a broader commitment beyond the pulpit.
Observers say the gesture highlights how private individuals and faith leaders can step in to support national assets when public funding is constrained or delayed. At the same time, the disclosure has reignited public conversation about the level of state investment in maintaining critical sports infrastructure.

A Shift in the December Narrative
For years, December events at the Accra Sports Stadium were followed by criticism over the condition of the pitch. This time, however, the turf remained intact despite hosting some of the biggest gatherings of the season.
From high-energy concerts to overnight worship sessions, the stadium carried the weight of entertainment and spirituality — and emerged largely unscathed.
While questions about long-term funding and maintenance remain, one fact is clear: Pastor Elvis Agyemang’s intervention ensured that Ghana’s premier stadium survived one of its busiest festive seasons without damage.
And he did it quietly. God richly bless you Paapa!
