Matchweek 2 of the Ghana Premier League served up goals, drama, and a few surprises as teams continued their fight to establish early dominance in the new season.
The weekend opened in grand fashion on Friday night at the TNA Stadium, where defending champions Medeama SC dismantled newcomers Visions FC with a ruthless 4–0 performance. It was a show of intent from the Mauve and Yellow, who now look to be hitting their stride early.
On Saturday, Hohoe United picked up their second draw of the season, sharing the spoils 1–1 with Young Apostles in a competitive encounter at the Hohoe Sports Stadium. Over in Accra, Eleven Wonders FC had a tough night as they were blown away 4–1 by an inspired Heart of Lions side, who have now won back-to-back matches and are proving to be one of the early-season surprises.
Sunday’s action was packed with tight contests and standout results. FC Samartex 1996 and Karela United FC battled to a 1–1 draw in a hard-fought clash, while Bechem United and Basake Holy Stars played out a goalless stalemate at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park.
In Swedru, Swedru All Blacks FC delighted their home fans with a commanding 3–0 victory over Berekum Chelsea, bouncing back strongly after their Week 1 defeat. At the Nana Agyemang Badu I Park, Aduana FC edged Nations FC 1–0 in a tense match, grabbing their first win of the campaign.
