Perry Appoh a 24-year Geography student at the University of Ghana hails from Ziave in the Volta Region of Ghana, and he is into farming for survival. He got into farming at the age of fifteen. Perry and other siblings used to follow their father Mr Francis Appoh who was adjudged the second best farmer in their district in 2017 to farm.

Perry upon seeing the father provide for the entire family through farming, he derived inspiration from him at that early stage, and with hard work, he has been able to venture into their family business (farming) on a large scale. This helped him generate more income to pay his fees at University. Hence, it reliefs the burden on his parents.

Perry on his palace of farmyards grows yam, rice, and lettuce among others. With the lettuce that he harvested he sold it to an agriculturalist and the feedback was exciting because he grew so well as compared to others who cultivated the same lettuce. He said, sometimes, agriculturalists do come and ask him about the method he uses for his farming.

One thing that makes Perry's farm different from others is that he only uses organic manure as fertilizer for the crops. With this Perry has been able to cultivate vegetables, cereals and tubers in large quantities.

Perry is not only into the planting of foodstuffs, he also rears mudfish, tilapia among others for domestic and commercial purposes

In his interview with MultiCDB, he disclose that the Covid-19 affected his income generation from farming since he was unable to send the product to market for sale. He also mentioned that sometimes the price keeps on increasing due to low patronage.

He said, “farming is either you win or lose but the profit is more than the loss” he urged his young ones to engage in farming because farming earns.
